The Natchez steamboats are a series of famous paddle wheelers that have operated on the Mississippi River, particularly around New Orleans. The most famous Natchez was built in 1869 and became renowned for its speed and rivalry with the Robert E. Lee. The current Natchez, the ninth of the line (Natchez IX), was launched in 1975 and continues to offer tours and cruises on the Mississippi.
